Welcome to Nmbrs! This article describes step-by-step how you, as a new employee, activate your account and log in to the Nmbrs Payroll mobile app.
Important: These steps only apply if you have not previously had a Nmbrs account on the email address used.
Does your organization use a Single Sign-On (SSO) method such as OKTA or Entra ID? Then these steps do not apply. Your employer will inform you about this. You can check this yourself if necessary by logging in to home.visma.com; in that case, under 'My details' > 'Password & 2FA', the message will read "You are logged in with Entra ID". For more information, see also this article about SSO.
Step 1: Activate account via the invitation email
As soon as your employer or accountant has created an employee login for you, you will automatically receive an activation email.
Have you not received this email? First check your junk email (spam) folder. If the email is not there either, please contact your employer. They can use the steps in the following article to check where the process is going wrong: No (email) notifications are being received.
In the invitation email you will find two important pieces of information:
- Your username (this is your email address)
- A unique activation link
Click on the activation link to go directly to the correct page. This page looks as follows:
Step 2: Create a password
Click on the 'NEXT' button to create a new, secure password. The password must meet the following security requirements:
- At least 15 characters
- At least one number
- At least one special character
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one lowercase letter
-
Please note: Do not use
<or>characters
Step 3: Log in to Visma Connect
After setting your password, you will be automatically redirected to connect.visma.com. This is the central and secure login system of Visma of which Nmbrs Payroll is part. You can find more background information in the article What is Visma Connect?.
1. Enter your email address on this page:
2. Enter the password you just created:
Step 4: Verify email address
A verification code will now be sent from the address do.not.reply@mail.connect.visma.com. Enter this code on the screen to confirm that the email address is correct. Then click on 'Verify'.
Step 5: Set up two-factor authentication (2FA)
To guarantee the security of your payroll and personal data, two-factor authentication is mandatory.
Important tip: Do not close the mobile browser in which you are completing this process in the meantime!
You can choose between using the official Visma Authenticator app or an alternative app (such as Google or Microsoft). The major advantage of the Visma Authenticator is that it allows you to approve login attempts via a push notification, so you do not have to copy 6-digit codes.
Important: Make the right choice based on the screen above!
Customers sometimes get stuck here because they choose the wrong button. Determine which app you are going to use and choose the correct route:
-
Option 1: You choose the Visma Authenticator (Recommended)
Click on the green 'Next' button. Then follow the first step-by-step guide below. -
Option 2: You choose another app (Google, Microsoft, Authy, etc.)
Click on the button 'I use another Authenticator app' (below/next to the green button).
Please note: Are you using another app? Then do not click 'Next'. If you do, you will scan the wrong QR code and your own authenticator app will display an error message.
Visma Authenticator App (Recommended)
- Click on the green 'Next' button.
- In the next screen, click on 'Download app' or open the App Store / Google Play Store yourself and search for 'Visma Authenticator'.
- Download the app on your phone (note: do not close your current mobile browser).
- Open the Visma Authenticator app. You do not need to log in to it.
- Tap on 'Add account' within the app.
- Choose the option 'Scan QR code'.
- Grant the app access to your camera.
- Tap on the 'Input key' button at the bottom of the screen (if scanning does not work or manual input is desired).
- Switch back to the mobile browser in which you were setting up 2FA.
- Copy the code shown at the bottom of the screen (use the convenient copy button on the left side).
- Open the Visma Authenticator app again and paste the code into the field 'Account secret key' and press 'Add'.
- Go back to the browser and click on 'Accept' and then open the Authenticator app again.
- Allow the app to send notifications, so you will receive push notifications when logging in from now on.
It will look like this:
Would you rather fill in codes manually afterwards instead of receiving push notifications? Then turn off notifications for the Visma Authenticator app via your phone's general settings.
Microsoft Authenticator App
- Choose 'I use another Authenticator app' in the browser.
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
- Tap on the '+' icon (Add account) and choose 'Other account'.
- Enter the code manually by following the steps on the screen.
Google Authenticator App
- Click on the button 'I use another Authenticator app' in the browser.
- Copy the green code at the bottom of the screen via the copy button on the left side.
- Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone.
- Tap on the '+' icon at the bottom right and choose 'Enter a provided key'.
- Enter a recognizable account name (for example: 'Nmbrs-VismaConnect'). Paste the copied code into 'Key'. Leave the type as 'Time-based' and tap add.
- Then press 'Next' and enter the generated code from the Authenticator app to complete the setup.
Twilio Authy App
- Choose 'I use another Authenticator app' in the browser.
- Open the Authy app on your phone and tap on 'Add Account'.
- Enter the secret key manually.
- Give the account a clear name and save it.
Step 6: Set up backup and complete
After linking the app, you can optionally provide a phone number as a backup. This is useful as an extra login option, but is not mandatory. You can skip this step if necessary by clicking directly on 'Next'.
You will then see a one-time emergency code (recovery code). Save this code very carefully and securely (for example, in a password manager or print it out). You will absolutely need this code if you ever lose your phone or get a new device. Then click on 'Done'.
Step 7: Log in to the Nmbrs Payroll Mobile App
Your account is now successfully activated! Because Nmbrs does not work optimally via a mobile internet browser, we recommend using the mobile application directly. The app is usually offered directly at the top of the webpage.
You can also download the app manually via the links below:
1. Open the downloaded app after installation and enter your email address (you can change the language of the app in the top right):
2. Give the app permission to use visma.com to log in (as mentioned, Nmbrs uses the central Visma Connect platform):
3. Enter your password:
4. Enter the 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app, or approve the login attempt via the push notification from the Visma Authenticator app.
5. Finally, you will be asked to create a 4-digit PIN code. This increases ease of use: when you open the app next time, you do not have to enter your entire password and 2FA code every time, but this PIN code will suffice. If your phone supports it, you can also replace this PIN code with biometric security such as Face ID or a fingerprint.
You are now successfully logged in and ready to use the Nmbrs Payroll app!
